What happens if you plead guilty to an AVO?

If you plead guilty to an AVO, you will be required to adhere to the conditions of the AVO for the prescribed period.

Although having an AVO against you is not a criminal offence and won’t be recorded against your name, breaching the AVO is a criminal offence.

If you plead guilty to an AVO and then breach the conditions stipulated, you could have a maximum of 2 years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $5,500.
